Starting from the Graziani mountain hut, which is a 16-kilometer drive away, follow the mule track to the Damiano Chiesa mountain hut, just a few meters from the summit of Monte Altissimo, where you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Garda.
An interesting alternative is to start directly from the San Valentino Pass, the starting point of the Sentiero delle Vipere (650 m). After an ascent through the woods, you’ll reach a marked trail (moderate difficulty) that leads to a mountain pasture, Malga Bes. Continuing along the trail, you can reach the summit of Monte Altissimo, or Malga Campo, where you can sample some alpine cheese. In this case, the hike is extended by about 2 hours.
